born in Rome about 540, dead 12.3.604 in Rome.
He was of 572 until 573 prefect from Rome; there he erected about 575 on the Monte Celio a cloister and became monk. After several years to activity as representative in Constantinople for the pope PELAGIUS of the second he went to Rom. There he was from 590 to 604 the pope.
